Borneo

Since moving to Singapore, we had been curious about a Borneo river adventure. We looked into some trip options and decided that visiting a river lodge that would be a bit easier with our six year old. Matt's parents even decided to join us.

We ended up on the Kinabatangan River in the Sabah region of Malaysian Borneo.  Some intact forest and possibilities for wildlife encounters create some good ecotourism opportunities  in this area.

The lodge was comfortable and situated on a forest property that had some hiking trails. The main attraction was a daily boat trip to look for animals along the river.

We stayed at the lodge three nights and went out on river trips twice a day. We saw several groups of orangutans, all from a distance.
