Summer Travels 2023

Here are some photos from our last summer break. We flew into Seattle and did some van travel through Washington, Idaho, and Montana.

We did a bit of jetlag recovery and started heading East. Our first stop was Liberty Lake near Spokane. We only spent an evening and a morning, but really enjoyed the walking trail through the riparian area adjacent to the campground.

Above: Meadow at the South-East end of Liberty Lake.
Right: Sunset on Liberty Lake.
Below: Liberty Lake Flycatcher.

Our next stop was Rock Creek outside of Missoula. We spent a couple of nights enjoying this beautiful area.

Cata bundled up to handle some cooler mornings, worked on her cast and had some hammock time.

Our next stop was Matt's Aunt and Uncle's place outside of Red Lodge.

The moose were definitely on the loose, and we saw a number of cows, one with a calf. The back yard hummingbird feeder was also buzzing with activity.

Cata loves a field of "blow flowers" (noxious weeds) (Above). She also loves small dogs and cousins.

From Red Lodge we went to Kellogg for a wedding.

Some Idaho critters. Left: Red-Napped Sapsucker.  Right: Mountain Blue Bird and the Northern Ground Squirrel (Below).

From Kellogg we ventured south to the St. Joe River and encountered some more Idaho critters:

American Dipper

Ben the fly fisherman

Yellow-rumped warbler

West slope cutthroat trout

Next stop was our place in Union. We celebrated the 4th of July and also took a quick trip to the coast for some more time with cousins.
